AI Transparency

1. Current status

The Nesiha mobile app and website do not use generative artificial intelligence to create, rewrite, or answer questions about religious content. They do not include an AI chatbot, an AI companion, or on-device machine-learning models.

This page exists so store reviewers and users can see exactly what is — and is not — AI. It matches the product as shipped. If we add generative AI later, we will update this page, label the feature in the app, and update our Privacy Policy and store AI / Data safety declarations before release.

2. Store questionnaires (answer from this page)

Use these answers for Google Play, App Store Connect, and similar forms until this page says otherwise:

• Does the app use generative AI? No.
• Does the app include AI-generated content? No. Catalog text, audio, and video are published sources, not model output.
• Does the app use on-device or cloud ML / LLM APIs? No. No OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, on-device Core ML models, or similar.
• Is user content used to train AI? No.
• Camera / photos used for AI analysis? No. Camera is a live Qibla background only.
• Speech / voice AI? No. Asma ul Husna uses the operating system’s built-in text-to-speech on the device. We do not record the user’s voice and we do not send audio to an AI provider.
• EU AI Act / high-risk AI system? The current product is not an AI system. Prayer times and Qibla are conventional calculations and sensors, not machine learning.

3. What is not AI in Nesiha

These features can look “smart” but are not generative AI or machine learning:

• Search uses ordinary full-text search in our database (title, author, description), not an AI model.
• Prayer times are calculated on your device from coordinates, timezone, and a published calculation method (Muslim World League).
• Qibla uses GPS and the compass. The camera is only a live background. Nothing is sent to an AI vision service.
• Hijri calendar uses a conventional calendar library on the device.
• Asma ul Husna speech uses your phone’s built-in text-to-speech. That audio is generated on the device.
• Recommendations / home layout show library catalog content we publish. They are not personalized by an AI ranking model trained on your behaviour.
• Translations in the app UI are human-managed localization strings, not live machine translation of the Quran.
• Masjid Finder opens Google Maps with a mosque search. Any Maps results are Google’s product, not a Nesiha AI feature.

4. What we never do with AI

• We do not generate or alter the Arabic text of the Quran with AI.
• We do not use AI to produce tafsir, fatwas, or religious rulings.
• We do not use AI to invent Hadith or attribute sayings to the Prophet ﷺ.
• We do not send your location, camera feed, messages, or reading history to an AI provider.
• We do not train public or third-party AI models on your personal data.
• We do not present any feature as an AI scholar, imam, or chatbot.

Quranic verses and core religious texts in the library are presented from sources we publish in the catalog — not from a language model.

5. Internal tools (not in the product)

The Nesiha team may use ordinary AI assistants while writing code, documentation, or marketing copy. That work happens on our side. It is not a user-facing AI feature and does not process your private app data as training input for a public model.

6. Your data

Account data, favourites, and messages are used only to run the Service, as described in the Privacy Policy. They are not used to generate AI religious answers.

7. Accuracy still matters without AI

Even without generative AI, content can contain mistakes in metadata, timing, or translation. Treat the app as a learning aid, not an authority. Report problems through Feedback in the app or the contact page.

8. If we add generative AI later

Before any generative AI feature ships, we will:

• Label it clearly in the app (so it is not confused with Quran text or scholarship)
• State which provider processes prompts, what is sent, and whether it is used for training
• Update this page, the Privacy Policy, and store AI / Data safety declarations
• Keep a rule that AI must not be presented as a fatwa or as the Quran itself
